How To Use Flexi Rods on Curly Hair

What Are Flexi-Rods? Flexi-rods are bendable foam rods you can use to curl or add texture to hair. In other words they are flexible hair rollers that help you achieve heatless curls. They come in a variety of lengths and sizes to accommodate different curl patterns.
What Size of Flexi-Rods Should I Use? This really depends on how tight you want your curls to be. Here at BELLAKURLS we are offer a range of flexi-rod curlers that range in diameter: Kinky 1.2 cm, Curly 1.6 cm, and Wavy 2cm. Flexi-rods with a smaller diameter will leave you with a tighter curl. Curling hair with larger flexi-rods will result in bigger, bouncier curls.
Is it best to do flexi rods on wet or dry hair? It's completely up to you! Flexi-rods can be used on wet or dry hair. A flexi-rod set on wet hair will result in tighter and shorter curls. If you want to avoid shrinkage then we recommend blowdrying your hair first to stretch out the roots.
How to Get Heat-Less Curls Using Flexi Rods. Part your hair into one-inch pieces and apply styling cream, gel or mousse of choice to each section. Starting from your ends, wrap the piece of hair around the rods. When you reach the top, bend both ends of the rod towards one another to secure it in place. Repeat this process until your hair is full of curling rods.
How Long Do You Leave Flexi-Rods in Your Hair? You can sit under a hood dryer for about 45-60 minutes or you can go heat-free. If you choose the heat-less method, leave the rods in overnight and then take them out in the morning. Do not take them out unless your hair is completely dry, if your hair is still wet they will unravel and the curl pattern will not hold it's new shape. Once all the rods are out, coat your fingertips with a little bit of hair oil, then separate each curl section to help create volume while fighting frizz.
