How to Add Highlights to Your Curly Hair Extensions at Home

Posted by Bella Kurls on

Curly Hair Blogger Charmsie shows us the frosting method to paint highlights on her set of BELLAKURLS clipin hair extensions. This style of highlights is intentionally placed like an ombre, to have a natural grow-out. Ombre hair color is darker at the roots through the mid-shaft and then gradually gets lighter from the mid-shaft to the ends.

If you have two toned hair, getting the color you want in hair extensions can be tricky. For best blending to your natural hair, you will need to dye your set of clipin hair extensions to achieve the look. Do your research and try and get the best hair dye possible because different types of dye may be too harsh on the extensions and weaken the curls. We always recommend completing a strand test first to see if you are happy with the color results before doing the full set.

In this video curly hair blogger Charmsie shows us the process of painting each curl individually. Start off by applying the color to the ends of the clipin hair extensions, with a brush or hands while wearing gloves. It's important not to leave a sharp line as this step is essential to making your hair looks natural and blended. Leave the color to form on the ends of your curly hair extensions for the amount of time listed on the box. You still want to check the set of hair extensions every so often to make sure you get the color you desire. Once you are satisfied with how the new hair color has turned out, you need to rinse the dye out of your hair extensions.
